Get CastReader for SafariInstall the Mac app once. Read and follow the highlights inside Safari.
01
Install CastReader for Safari from the Mac App Store, then open it from Applications.
02
In the app, open Safari Settings. In Extensions, select the checkbox beside CastReader. The Mac app helps with setup; reading happens in Safari.
03
Open an article in Safari and click the orange CastReader toolbar icon. When Safari asks, allow access to this website. Refresh a page that was already open.
04
Click the headphones button on the right edge of the article. Keep the page in view: hear the voice, follow the highlights, and use pause or speed controls whenever you need.
Illustrated setup steps. Labels may vary by Safari version.
Start with a short article and a free voice. Sign-in is optional for your first read; use Settings → Sign in to restore an existing account.
Open the installed Mac app once, then check Safari → Settings → Extensions. If the extension is on but the icon is hidden, use View → Customize Toolbar to add it.
Allow access to the current website and refresh the tab. Try an ordinary article first; Safari Start Page, browser settings, and protected pages cannot be read.
Click play yourself, check the volume and tab mute setting, and keep the article visible. Check the on-page message for a connection or usage-limit issue.
The apps share a product and Pro entitlement, but each surface solves a different extraction and listening problem. Start with the one that matches your source.
Listen to Kindle books on my phone
iOS or Android
The mobile app is designed for a phone-first Kindle bookshelf, highlighting, background playback, and long listening sessions.
Read a webpage, Google Doc, or AI answer in place
Browser extension
The extension works where the page is rendered and can preserve in-page extraction and highlighting on supported sources.
Open a PDF, DOCX, EPUB, image, or copied text
Mobile or upload workflow
Use a document-friendly surface instead of forcing a local file through an ordinary webpage reader.
Use Pro on more than one supported surface
Same login email
Pro entitlement follows the login email. File libraries and reading progress can still vary by workflow and are not promised as universal sync.
Start with the CastReader mobile app for iPhone or Android.
Install the browser extension so CastReader can read the page where it lives.
Paste text into the Read This to Me tool for instant audio.
Use Read & Explain for source-linked guidance at overview, standard, or deep depth.
Sign in with the same email to keep your CastReader Pro status aligned across supported surfaces. Anonymous device allowances do not become a synced Pro account, and content or progress availability can vary by workflow.
